A couple OF weeks ago, you heard about our Children’s Choir looking for new members in the announcements. If you’ve been to any Family Masses, you’ve even heard them in action!
The Children’s Choir is a very light-hearted, low-commitment group of young musicians grades 1 through 9. We sing at the Family Mass once per month and have our own concert set for June!
Right now, we have about 20 members, but there is room for everyone. The goal is to have 30, 50, or 100 singers! (500 or 1,000 is also fine).
You do not have to be a music student to be a part of this group. You might be the star baseball player on your team, a gymnast or basketball player, a painter, mathematician or scientist. You may never sing outside of the car. This group is still for you!
Just like sports, a choir is made up of several individuals who must work together as a team to make beautiful music come to life. Being a part of a choir inspires teamwork, cooperation, creativity, and confidence.
As the director of this group, take my word for it, you would love singing with us!! If you’re in Religious Education, there is even class credit offered for participating in the Children’s Choir.
Would you like to join? Send your son or daughter to part of the group? Simply reply to this Flocknote or email me here: [email protected]
The Children's Choir is open to anyone from 1st grade to 9th grade who likes to sing! The choir will sing for our new Family Mass once per month. Members of the Children's Choir will receive basic instruction in the fundamentals of singing, learn their own pieces for Family Masses, and present their own concerts at different points in the liturgical year. There are also many opportunities for solo singing at Masses and concerts.
Singing in a church choir, especially at a young age, is a beautiful way to express faith, build confidence, and learn how to work well with others. Music has always played a major role in our Catholic tradition. Lifting our voices to God is a powerful way to give thanks and praise for his goodness. Plus, singing is very fun!
If you are interested in joining St. Stephen's Music Ministry in the Children's Choir, Handbell Choir, Folk Choir, or Traditional Choir, please e-mail Andrew Hoben, at [email protected]. Andrew is also available in the church after Saturday 5:00 Masses and Sunday 11:00 Masses.
